Meeting of
Harrogate Sons Of William LOL 1685
The Warrant for LOL 265 was presented to the first Worthy Master Bro.Gordon Emmett on March 31st 1978.
The Lodge at that time sat in a hotel in Durham and was known as City of Durham LOL 265 and was part of
District 47, Palatine and the Northern Province of the Grand Lodge of England.
Over the next few years the numbers of members travelling from Northallerton in North Yorkshire grew to the point where they were the majority. At this point an application was made to move the Lodge to Northallerton. We can now proudly boast that we know have our own Orange Hall in Northallerton. This was approved and the Lodge was duly renamed to our current name to reflect the move:-
NORTHALLERTON SONS OF WILLIAM LOL 265
As well as the Lodge moving to Northallerton we also moved at this point to District 46, Tyneside. Our link with the Durham area still remains to this day with around 15 of a current membership of 54 Brethren coming from Durham and
surrounding area. Two members from the time of the Lodge sitting in Durham are still in the Lodge today. Over the years the Lodge, like many, has had its high points and lows.At one time a membership of over 40 has been achieved but the dark days of the late 90’s saw the numbers fall away drastically until only a loyal handful were keeping the Lodge alive,Now with the resolution & support of that Loyal handful we are back to being one of, if not the largest Lodge in England
They were the current Worthy Master Bro Alan Clements and Bro’s Tommy Kelly, Brian Wallace, David Soper, Ray Armstrong and Ronnie Bowers. The new millennium has seen the Lodge revitalised and helped by recruits who found the Lodge from the Internet we have gone through a period of rapid growth and have doubled our membership over the last 3 years. LOL 265 is still going strong and it attracts members from all over the surrounding area.
Northallerton Sons Of William is one of, if not the Largest lodge within the Grand lodge Of England
We currently have members from Auchtermuchty ( Scotland )Bangor (N.I.), Bowburn, Catterick, Darlington,Glasgow, Guisborough, , Harrogate,Hartlepool Knaresborough, Leeming,Middlesbrough, Pity Me,Penrith,RAF Waddington (Lincolnshire), Ripon, Selby, Shotton Colliery, Stockton, Sunderland, Thornaby,

The Lodge had seen members attaining posts at a high level and our current Worthy Master, Bro Alan Clements, who has been our Worthy Master for the past 14 years,
is the
Immediate Past Northern Provincial Grand Master
The Lodge has hosted 6 parades the latest being in 2011 when Northallerton Sons Of William LOL 265 paraded in support of Act Of Settlement on the streets of Northallerton. We followed this with a successful function in the company of
